The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Dinara Kemelova, and consisting of representatives of the Water Resources Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, is taking part in the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for sustainable development” in Dushanbe.

The event is held with the participation of foreign governments, international and regional organizations, and representatives of expert and scientific circles from all over the world.

Within the framework of the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Dinara Kemelova made a speech at the Central Asian Forum "Regional Water Cooperation" and noted the existing problems related to the impact of climate change on water supply, energy, and food security. In this regard, she called for constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation on the use of water and energy resources in the region. She emphasized that compensatory and economic mechanisms for water use should be developed and implemented in the region. She informed regarding the initiatives and resolutions put forward by the UN, dedicated to the issues of sustainable mountain development, conservation of glaciers, and biodiversity.

As part of the participation in the Forum, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ms. Dinara Kemelova met with the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe Ms. Olga Algaerova, during which the parties discussed topical issues of socio-economic development, water, and environmental cooperation. In particular, Ms. Dinara Kemelova requested assistance in promoting the mountain initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic in the UN system, increasing the export potential of the Kyrgyz Republic, which has the Generalized System of Preferences + status (GSP+). At the same time, there was noted the importance of deepening regional cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure and expanding trade.
