On June 19th 2019 the United Nations Security Council convened open debates on the agenda item “Situation in Afghanistan”, at which Mr. Tadamichi Yamamoto, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, delivered its speech. During the debates the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN in New York, M. Moldoisaeva, delivered a speech.

 In her speech, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Ms. Mirgul Moldoisaeva, noted the central role of the United Nations in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan, expressing the appreciation and strong support for all of the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Special Representative for Afghanistan. M.Moldoisaeva also noted the achievements of the National unity Government in implementing reforms, while expressing serious concern over the security situation in Afghanistan and stressing the need for further efforts to address the threat to the security and stability of Afghanistan. Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed the hope that the presidential election in Afghanistan in September will be another important step towards the democracy in the country.

Within the framework of regional cooperation with Afghanistan, Mirgul Moldoisaeva noted Kyrgyzstan’s initiatives in this direction, including the establishment of a trilateral agro-industrial consortium Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan, teaching Afghan students in the educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan and the establishment in Bishkek of an International Center for Afghan research.
