Foreign Affairs Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic attended Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers of LLDCs

On September 23, 2020 the Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries arranged by Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN took place on the sidelines of the 75th session of UN General Assembly.  

​H.E. Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the UN, H.E. Mr. Volkan Bozkyr, President of the 75th session of UN General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Kunio Mikuria, Secretary General of World Customs Organization, H.E. Mr. Michael W. Lodge, Secretary General of International Seabed Authority, H.E. Ms. Mami Mitzutori, Special Representative of the Secretary-General - Head of UN Disaster Risk Reduction, H.E. Ms. Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoikamanu, Under-Secretary-General and High Representative of Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States, H.E. Ms. Vera Songwe, Executive Secretary of Economic Commission of Africa, H.E. Mr. Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of Economic and Social Commission of Asia and Pacific took part in the event, as well as foreign affairs ministers of Paraguay, Armenia, Ethiopia, Nepal, Afghanistan, Lesotho, Bolivia, Bhutan, Tajikistan, Botswana, Malawi and Burkina Faso. Also the official representatives of Zimbabwe, Lao Democratic Republic, Austria, Moldova, Turkey, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Uganda, Niger, UN institutions, international and regional organizations, non-commercial organizations and private sector.   

​H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic confirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to implement Vienna Programme of Action for LLDCs for 2014-2024 in framework of the national development strategies and plans. Also he noted the importance to continue cooperation in the struggle against with COVID-19 pandemic and its social and economic consequences including issues of continuing financing for development of landlocked developing countries, restoration of disrupted trade connections and debt relief. Particularly H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov positively mentioned the holding of High-level event on Financing for Development in COVID-19 Era and Beyond on May 28, 2020 during which H.E. Mr. Sooronbai Zheenbekov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, underlined the necessity of conducting a “deep” conversion of foreign debt and importance of broader implementation of debt-to-development swaps.  

​In conclusion the Declaration of LLDCs Foreign Affairs Ministerial Meeting and the Roadmap on Acceleration of Implementation of Vienna Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for 2014-2024 were adopted.
