On October 22, 2019, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov held a meeting with compatriots during his working visit to Japan. The meeting was held in Tokyo.

The head of state noted with satisfaction that he was glad to meet with compatriots who are striving to adopt all the best in Japan for further use in Kyrgyzstan.

The President recalled that Japan has been supporting Kyrgyzstan for all the years of independence, the total amount of assistance amounted to more than 1 billion US dollars, half of the allocated funds of Japanese aid-grants.

"Many countries of the world are interested in deepening cooperation with Japan. We are also determined to develop our bilateral relations.  I am pleased that our young people are studying the advanced technologies of Japan, the Japanese language, history and culture. The use of technological achievements of Japan, the development of successful experience in the fields of science, education and management is very important for the future of Kyrgyzstan, " Sooronbai Zheenbekov said.

The Head of State noted that the Kyrgyz side highly appreciates the assistance of the government of Japan in improving the skills of personnel, where state and municipal officials from Kyrgyzstan are sent for training every year.

The President spoke about the main directions of the state policy of regional development, digitalization of the country, fight against corruption, judicial and legal reform, measures to support the export potential of the country, etc.

In a conversation with the Head of State, compatriots spoke about life in Japan and plans for the future.

They voiced a request to increase quotas for scholarship programs in Japanese universities.

They also expressed their wishes about possible amendments to the legislation and activities of state bodies, which will contribute to a wider use of the experience and knowledge of Kyrgyz people at home, acquired in Japan.

The meeting exchanged views on the development of the country, the participation of citizens in this process, the role of small and medium-sized businesses in the structure of the national economy, etc.

Sooronbai Zheenbekov expressed confidence that upon their return to their homeland, compatriots will use their knowledge and experience to improve the activities of state bodies and the public administration system.

"The future belongs to educated, young Kyrgyz people. Your predecessors, who were educated in various programs in Japan, contribute to the development of the country, show a willingness to change the areas in which they work. I believe that you will also achieve your good goals and return to Kyrgyzstan with great opportunities to realize your potential for the benefit of the country," President Sooronbai Zheenbekov concluded.
