Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr.Mirlan Asrtanbaev met with Vice Governor of Wakayama Prefecture Mr.Hiroshi Shimo on August 1, 2019. Two sides discussed prospects of cooperation with Wakayama.

Ambassador Arstanbaev mentioned that Kyrgyz side is interested in cooperation on following three areas which Wakayama is famous for: food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Kyrgyz Republic is currently producing organically pure agricultural goods, however we face the problem of certification when exporting them, he said. Hence Ambassador expressed his opinion on significance of cooperation with laboratories of Wakayama Prefecture.

Vice Governor Shimo said there are advanced laboratories and research centers in Wakayama. He noticed that cooperation with one of them could be prospective and briefed about the activities of Industrial Technology Center of Wakayama Prefecture.

Ambassador Arstanbaev also met with Speaker of Wakayama Prefectural Assembly Mr. Takeshi Kishimoto and Vice Speaker Ms. Reiko Mori. They highlighted significance of deepening contacts between the regions of Kyrgyzstan and Wakayama. In this context Ambassador Arstanbaev invited Wakayama’s parliamentarians to visit Kyrgyz Republic and meet with their Kyrgyz vis-à-vis. Two sides agreed to continue negotiations on this matter.

Mr. Arstanbaev made a study tour to Industrial Technology Center of Wakayama Prefecture. This organization supports local enterprises. Namely, companies can get assistance of the Center on designing new technologies to produce specific types of products. In addition, depending on needs of companies, Center designs new technologies and companies can test them. Local producers can also carry out various laboratory researches, tests and certifications.

Ambassador visited candy factory of «Souhonke Surugaya» company. After study tour through the factory, two sides agreed to hold the consultations on importing Kyrgyz honey as an ingredient for the goods produced by this company.
