On May 1, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic R.Kazakbaev held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.Lavrov, during which the current situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik State border was discussed.

Minister R.Kazakbaev informed Minister S.Lavrov about the events of April 28-30, 2021 and the current situation in the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic. He stressed the intention of the Kyrgyz side to follow the agreements reached at the highest and high levels following the negotiations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.

R.Kazakbaev and S.Lavrov agreed that the conflict situation that has arisen, which has led to numerous casualties and injured on both sides, should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic negotiations. The Russian Foreign Minister noted that the Russian side, being a reliable partner of the Kyrgyz side, is closely monitoring the situation in the border area of Kyrgyzstan, and in this regard welcomed the efforts of the Kyrgyz side to resolve the incident on the Kyrgyz-Tajik State border.

S.Lavrov expressed the readiness of the Russian Federation to provide all possible support for further stabilization of the situation and assistance to the residents of the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic affected by the conflict.

​The Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Russia agreed to organize meetings in the near future as part of the schedule of upcoming foreign policy events.
