Within the framework of the humanitarian mission "Meerim79 children of the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic have been returned to their home country from the Republic of Iraq.
On March 16 this year, a special flight from the Republic of Iraq has arrived in the country.
It should be noted that this humanitarian mission aimed at saving children who are in an extremely dangerous situation to the health and life and who have the right to protection by the state is the first repatriation event of a similar nature and extent.

Within the framework of a whole range of activities, including serious preparatory work on repatriation, after lengthy negotiations with the Iraqi side, at the end of February 2021, an advanced working group of diplomatic staff, representatives of the Government and other competent authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic was sent to the Republic of Iraq on a humanitarian mission to conduct out relevant activities to prepare the return of children to their homeland.

The repatriation of children became possible by the political will of the country's leadership, the coordination of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and coherence interaction of the country's government agencies in the sphere of Foreign Affairs, Health and Social Development, law enforcement agencies, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Kuwait, as well as significant assistance from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The return of children to their home country is part of the algorithm of repatriation events, according to which the relevant services will have to work on their rehabilitation and resocialization for further transfer to relatives.

It should be noted that the removal of children was carried out with the consent of their mothers who remained in the Republic of Iraq and the will of their relatives in the Kyrgyz Republic to accept children into families for upbringing.

The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic will provide comprehensive assistance to the returned children. All activities will be conducted to ensure their early rehabilitation, reintegration and return to a safe and peaceful life.
The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic expresses gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Iraq for assisting in organizing the repatriation, the UNICEF offices in the cities of Bishkek and Baghdad, the Red Crescent of Kyrgyzstan for cooperation and assistance in implementing of a humanitarian mission to save and return children to their home country.
