About the rules of entry during the COVID-19 pandemic

2029

Japan

Entry into Japan is allowed only for essential reasons. Entry for tourism purposes is temporarily prohibited. The full list of exclusions can be found at https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page4e_001053.html#section11

From March 1, 2022, all arrivals in Japan (foreign citizens and Japanese citizens), in addition to providing a negative PCR test and additionally undergoing PCR testing at the port of arrival, undergo a mandatory 7-day home quarantine. If the result of the PCR test on the third day is negative, then in this case, home quarantine for the remaining period is no longer required.

A 3-day quarantine in a special quarantine zone will be applied to those entering from certain countries and regions where the Omicron virus strain has been identified.

The quarantine period will be reduced for those entering the country who have received their third vaccination:

• travelers from certain countries and regions where the Omicron virus strain has been identified require 3 days of home quarantine instead of 3 days of quarantine in a designated quarantine zone;

• Travelers from countries and regions where the Omicron virus strain has not been identified are not subject to home quarantine provided that they receive the 3rd vaccination.

It is allowed to use public transportation from the airport to home or other place for home quarantine within 24 hours after the PCR test upon arrival in Japan.

An online quarantine form (https://arqs-qa.followup.mhlw.go.jp/#/) must be completed prior to arrival.

Proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken within the previous 72 hours must be presented upon departure and arrival. Full details of acceptable testing practices can be found at https://www.mhlw.go.jp/content/000825144.pdf

The PCR test in the country of departure should be based on a nasopharyngeal swab or saliva test. The results of a test based on an oropharyngeal swab alone will not be accepted. The certificate on paper must contain the following information in English: biomaterial for Nasopharyngeal swab (nasopharynx) or Saliva (saliva) study, full name, passport number, diagnostic method, date and time of the test, etc. .

At the same time, it is mandatory to provide an approved Japanese-style certificate with a negative PCR test result, completed and certified by the seal of the laboratory in the Kyrgyz Republic: 1) Head office of the Aqualab laboratory; 2) "Laboratory of Bonetsky". Certificate can be downloaded from the following link: https://www.mhlw.go.jp/content/000808170.pdf
