On April 15, 2020, Finance Ministers and Central Bank governors of the G20 countries approved the initiative to suspend debt servicing for the poorest countries (including the Kyrgyz Republic), adopted by the G20 and the Paris club and supported by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

As part of this initiative, the Kyrgyz Republic has sent official requests to bilateral creditors to suspend servicing of external debt.

To date, an agreement has already been reached with almost all bilateral creditors to defer payments for debt servicing in 2020 for the next 3-4 years (the Saudi Development Fund, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the French Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Republic of Korea, Japan).

In particular, an agreement was reached with the People's Republic of China, one of the major creditors of our country, to suspend payments in 2020. The terms of the deferral are currently being worked out.
