Legal base
Diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uzbekistan have been established on February 16th, 1993.
The main bilateral agreements are:
- Agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uzbekistan (in the form of exchange of diplomatic notes), Bishkek, 09.01.1993, Tashkent, 16.02.1993;
- Agreement on the eternal friendship between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 24.12.1996;
- Declaration on the strategic partnership, strengthening of friendship, mutually neighbourly cooperation and trust between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 05.10.2017;
- Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uzbekistan on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border, Bishkek, 06.09.2017;
From the establishment of bilateral relations, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uzbekistan have been signed totally 180 agreements.
Among them:
- 88 documents are intercountryand intergovernmental;
- 48 documents are interdepartmental;
- 44 documents do not have the status of an international agreement
From the above-mentioned documents, 41 agreements ceased to be in force and 2 documents did not come into operation.
At the present time 137 agreements between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Uzbekistanentered into force.
