On April 12, 2022, a Country presentation on the investment and export potential of the Kyrgyz Republic was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for representatives of more than 120 Italian companies. As part of the planned work to promote economic diplomacy, for the first time in the history of Kyrgyz-Italian bilateral relations, an introductory meeting was organized with the participation of sectoral government agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event, organized by the Italian Trade and Investment Agency (“ICE”) with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Italy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan and Italy T.Bazarbaev and M. Alberti, Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and Italy A. Artykbaev and M. Di Stefano.

In this context, the Country Presentation was another important step for the Kyrgyz Republic in demonstrating the investment and trade and economic potential of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the establishment of long-term and horizontal cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.

Representatives of government agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic made presentations on export and investment potential and focused on specific potential investment projects. (1) textile and clothing industry, (2) agriculture, (3) hydropower and (4) tourism provided information on the opportunities available by showing thematic presentations on.

Given the geographical location of the Kyrgyz Republic and Italy, where small and medium-sized businesses are most developed, the Italian side was offered to establish joint ventures in the Kyrgyz Republic under the brand “Made with Italy” in the Kyrgyz Republic with the opportunity to develop the markets of Central Asia and the Middle East.

Giorgio Fontano, owner of the Dolce vita pizzeria chain, made a separate presentation on doing business in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Agency for Trade and Investment, a state institution that supports the development of Italian companies’ business abroad and provides them with consulting services, noted the high investment attractiveness of the country and expressed their ready to assist Italian entrepreneurs in expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.

At the end of the event, the competent authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic (Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Agriculture, National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic) answered to questions of Italian companies and questions regarding the implementation of projects in the Kyrgyz Republic. The parties exchanged address information for further direct communication.

The Kyrgyz side is invited to participate in thematic exhibitions and fairs in Italy, including the International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery "EIMA International", which will be held from 9 to 13 November 2022 in Bologna.
