On December 2, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zh.M.Kulubaev received the Special Envoy of the European Union for Afghanistan T.Niklasson. During the meeting, the sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan and mutual cooperation to help the Afghan people.

The head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry Zh.Kulubaev informed that Kyrgyzstan is interested in a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan and supports international and regional efforts in this direction. The concern of the Kyrgyz Republic over the humanitarian situation, which is only getting worse due to the isolation of the country and the approaching winter, was emphasized. The European side was informed about the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic to assist and promote Afghanistan, including by providing opportunities for Afghan youth to study in universities of the Kyrgyz Republic.

EU Special Envoy T.Niklasson informed Minister Z.Kulubaev about the European Union's vision of the situation in Afghanistan, humanitarian and other assistance and invited the Kyrgyz side to work together to support the Afghan people.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold the “Central Asia + European Union” meeting of Special Representatives for Afghanistan in Bishkek in 2023.
