Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN in New York Mirgul Moldoisaeva made a statement during the opening of the general debate of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, which began its work  September 30, 2021.

In her speech, Mirgul Moldoisaeva confirmed that the Kyrgyz Republic supports the need for universal recognition and observance of human rights and freedom enshrined in the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international documents. It was noted that during the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, the Kyrgyz Republic will advocate increasing the efficiency of the UN human rights treaty bodies and strengthening the mechanism of cooperation with UN special procedures.

It was especially noted that in order to participate at the global level in the process of upholding international norms and standards in the field of human rights protection, the candidacy of Kyrgyzstan was nominated to the UN Human Rights Council for 2023-2025. In this context, she expressed hope for support of the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic to this body from the UN member states.

She emphasized that Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to countering such negative phenomena as racial, ethnic and religious discrimination. The importance of strengthening international cooperation in ensuring gender equality, promoting and protecting the rights of children and persons with disabilities, as well as enhancing intergovernmental cooperation on migration issues and protecting the rights of migrant workers and members of their families was noted.

Referring to the situation in Afghanistan, she informed that the Kyrgyz Republic has decided to accept 500 Afghan students to study at the country's universities.

It was noted that Kyrgyzstan supports the efforts of the Secretary General, the World Health Organization and other UN agencies aimed at combating the pandemic and overcoming its socio–economic consequences, including the creation of the Global Vaccination Plan and the activities of the COVAX mechanism.

In this regard, urged member states to enhance coordination in the field of public health and public finance measures at all levels in order to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
