Distinguished ladies and gentlemen!

As you know Kyrgyzstan as well as other countries which decided to follow the way of sustainable development assumed responsibilities to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

By using the unique opportunity to participate in this event I would like to share the information about activities dedicated to achievement of SDG in my country with you.

In order to institutionalize the process of adaption of SDGs to national conditions and integrate them into the country’s program documents Government of the Kyrgyz Republic established the Coordination Committe on Adaptation, Implementation and Monitoring of SDGs under leadership of Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan. The Committee includes representatives of legislative branch, ministries and public bodies, international and non-governmental organizations.

The country’s matrix of national indicators and additional parameters was established in order to adapt the SDG Agenda 2030 and implement a first stage of monitoring

After the process of inventory from the 169 global goals, tasks and indicators 102 tasks were accepted, 58 tasks were adapted for national tasks and 9 tasks were excluded as irrelevant to the country’s priorities and conditions. Out of 239 global indicators 69 of them were accepted unchanged and the 168 were replaced by national equivalents.

Currently the work on implementation of adapted SDGs to strategic documents of the country is being conducted.

The work on the National Strategy of Sustainable Development till 2040 based on human capital and innovations in harmony with environment has reached final stage.

One the key initiatives of the Strategy is the National Program of digital transformation of Kyrgyzstan “Taza Koom” (Pure Society) which was developed for promotion of the principles of electronic management and open society in our country.

The “Taza Koom” Program fits the General Assembly Resolution “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” which recognize the distribution of information and communication technologies and global mutual net connection open huge prospects for acceleration of human progress, overcome digital gap and form society on knowledge basis.

In order to implement the 2014 National Strategy Government of the Kyrgyz Republic each 5 years will develop so-called Development Strategies with the main goal to increase the national economy competitiveness in regional and international markets. 

As the first stage of the 2040 National Strategy implementation the Program of the Kyrgyz Republic development called “Trust, Unity, Creation” was adopted in April 2018.

So how the SDG tasks were incorporated and adapted into this document?

The above-mentioned Government Program well correlates with the SDGs. Its each chapter has the connection with one of SDGs. Tasks of the Program has close wordings and about 70 percent of them are matching with SDGs. We think that such coordinated approach with provide transparent understanding of the achievements of the country’s development goals in midterm prospect.

The Government Program has a very close connection with the next SDGs:

Goal 1. No poverty

Goal 2. Zero hunger

Goal 3. Good health and well-being

Goal 4. Quality education

Goal 7. Affordable and clean energy

Goal 8. Decent work and economic growth

Goal 9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Goal 11. Sustainable cities and communities

Goal 16. Peace, justice and strong institutions

Such correlation of a midterm program document of Government of the Kyrgyz Republic with SDGs was mentioned by The Methodology for Assessing Procurement Systems Initiative (MAPS) in its preliminary review after visiting Kyrgyzstan in the end of June 2018. Our countries was elected as the pilot country for comprehensive evaluation and support in implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

We express hope that collaboration with MAPS Initiative will help us to develop intersectoral solution, find bottlenecks towards increasing of results and define accelerators which should help to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by Kyrgyz Republic.

In conclusion I want to underline that the country in cooperation with the UN system works actively in strengthening sustainable development with focus on national priorities and interests of Kyrgyzstan as well as on contribution in achievement of indicators and tasks of the global 2030 Agenda.
