The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid

On September 21, 2021, as part of a visit to New York to participate in the events of the High-level Week of General Debate of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan congratulated Abdullah Shahid on his election to the post of Chairman of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly and wished him success in his activities for the benefit of the people of the world and as well as implementation of his idea "Chairmanship of Hope". The Minister noted that since October 2020, political transformations have been taking place in the Kyrgyz Republic under the same motto "Umut" (hope). In particular, during this period, the country held Presidential elections and a referendum on the new version of the Constitution. The elections to the Jogorku Kenesh, scheduled for November 28, 2021, will conclude this cycle of transformations.

In turn, the Chairman of the General Assembly Abdulla Shahid noted that Kyrgyzstan is an important partner of the UN in Central Asia and expressed confidence in close and fruitful cooperation with Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the UN General Assembly.

Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev informed that on September 21, 2021, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov spoke at the General Debate of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. During his statement, the Head of State announced the initiative to hold the Central Asia-UN Summit in 2022. In this regard, Ruslan Kazakbaev invited Abdullah Shahid to take part in this event. Also, the Head of the Foreign Ministry informed the Chairman of the UN General Assembly about the initiative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to hold the "Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions" and called to support it.

Abdulla Shahid supported the announced initiatives of Kyrgyzstan and expressed readiness to take part in the Central Asia-UN Summit.

Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, was elected Chairman of the 76th session of the General Assembly in June this year and took office on September 14 this year.
