The Foreign ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Sweden held consultations in the video conferencing format

On October 21, 2021, consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Investment of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden in the video conferencing format were held.
The Kyrgyz side was represented at the level of the Director of the Third Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Investment of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Ulan Dzhusupov, and the Swedish side was represented by the Director of the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Ms. Martina Quick.
The parties discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Swedish cooperation in certain areas of mutual interest.
The Director of Department of the Foreign Ministry Ulan Dzhusupov informed about the ongoing reforms in the country, the fight against corruption, the adoption of a new version of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2021 and concerning the coming elections of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on November 28, 2021, where representatives of Sweden were invited as international observers.
Taking into account the current chairmanship of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2021, the parties discussed the issues of interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Sweden within the framework of this international organization.
Also, the parties discussed the possibility of holding a joint event in 2022 as part of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kingdom of Sweden.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Investment of the Kyrgyz Republic informed about the upcoming First Economic Forum «European Union - Central Asia», scheduled for November 05, 2021 in Bishkek, inviting the Swedish side to take an active part in this important political and economic event.
During the foreign policy consultations, issues of cooperation in the field of climate change, ecology, "green economy", health care, as well as in the consular sphere were discussed.
Representatives of the foreign ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Sweden also discussed issues of interaction within the framework of the United Nations.
Concerning the situation in Afghanistan, the parties expressed their mutual interest in the peaceful settlement of the entire internal political process in this country. Ulan Dzhusupov informed about the contribution of Kyrgyzstan to this process.
The parties agreed to hold regular foreign policy consultations in 2022, the dates and place of which will be discussed through diplomatic channels.
The work of these consultations was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Sweden, Mr. Erlan Abdyldaev, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Christian Kamill.
