Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Artykbaev met with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) delegation, headed by Director General Dr. Frank Rijsberman

On February 20, 2023, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Artykbaev met with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) delegation, headed by Director General Dr. Frank Rijsberman.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation, as well as discussed issues of climate change and the development of a "green economy" in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The issues of attracting "green" investments in renewable energy sources, resource conservation, energy efficiency and "green" transport were discussed in detail.

A. Artykbayev noted that the implementation of projects for the construction of hydroelectric power plants in Kyrgyzstan will be able to cover the needs of the countries of the region for clean electricity in the future and will have a positive impact on the conservation of water resources in Central Asia.

The Deputy Minister also called on GGGI to support the initiative of exchanging the country's external debt for green initiatives put forward by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.N. Zhaparov by providing advisory and technical assistance in the preparation of relevant projects that can be offered to creditors.

F. Riysberman highly appreciated the active climate position of the top leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed his firm intention to strengthen cooperation with interested state bodies and organizations on future joint projects.

In conclusion, the representative of GGGI informed about the plans to open a representative office in the Kyrgyz Republic in the near future.
