Deputy Foreign Minister Aibek Moldogaziev and U.S. Department of State Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu Moldogaziev led a successful fifth round of United States-Kyrgyz Republic Annual Bilateral Consultations in Washington DC

On March 30, 2023 Deputy Foreign Minister Aibek Moldogaziev and U.S. Department of State Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu Moldogaziev led a successful fifth round of United States-Kyrgyz Republic Annual Bilateral Consultations in Washington DC. 

During the consultations the Kyrgyz Republic and U.S. delegations discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues in the areas of politics, security, economic diversification, the rule of law and identified perspective avenues for achieving bilateral and regional goals.

Particularly, The United States welcomed the Kyrgyz Republic's efforts to delimitate and demarcate its international borders as one of the main factors to peace and security in Central Asia. Participants discussed the simplification of the visa process and the extension of visa validity for citizens of the two countries. In addition, the sides considered ways to attract American investment, promote Kyrgyz exports to the U.S. market, cooperate in tourism and promote English language programs.

By the end of the consultations, both sides stated their intention to hold the next round of Annual Bilateral Consultations in Bishkek.
