Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova met with the newly appointed Resident Coordinator of UN system in the Kyrgyz Republic Kristin Antje Grawe and Resident Representative of UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic Louise Chamberlain

On August 11, 2022 Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova met with the newly appointed Resident Coordinator of UN system in the Kyrgyz Republic Kristin Antje Grawe and Resident Representative of UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic Louise Chamberlain.

During the meeting the parties discussed general issues of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and UN. Deputy Minister Dinara Kemelova informed about the Kyrgyz party’s interest to develop cooperation on the issues of sustainable development of mountain regions and mountain ecosystems preservation.

In particular Dinara Kemelova informed about a current work on promotion of new initiatives in this direction, such as the initiative to proclaim a five-year plan on mountain regions development for 2023-2027. In this regard she told about conducting different events with the country leaders participation in order to support the initiatives during the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2022.

The Resident coordinator of UN system in the Kyrgyz Republic Kristin Antje Grawe noted positively the work of the Kyrgyz Republic on the promotion of mountain-related topics in the framework of the international agenda and expressed the UN’s readiness to assist Kyrgyzstan to implement the above-mentioned initiatives. From her part the Resident Representative of UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic Louise Chamberlain also noted a possible support for the Kyrgyz Republic to implement a five-year plan on mountain regions development for 2023-2027 after its adoption.
