On March 14, 2023, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Aida Kasymalieva met with the Administrator of the UNDP Achim Steiner.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and UNDP in the field of environment and climate and development of mountain regions and expressed gratitude for the constant support from UNDP in various fields.

Particular attention was paid to the country's international initiatives in the mountain agenda. Permanent Representative Aida Kasymalieva informed about the adoption by the UN General Assembly in December 2022 of the resolution “Sustainable Mountain Development” and the announcement of 2023-2027 as the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions. In this regard, she requested to take part in the practical implementation of this resolution.

Achim Steiner expressed support and readiness to assist the Kyrgyz Republic in its activities in the field of sustainable mountain development.

In conclusion, the parties wished for successful work and confirmed their mutual interest in continuing further fruitful cooperation.
