The Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN in New York M. Moldoisaeva attended the Security Council high-level Arria Formula virtual meeting on the theme “75 Years from the End of the Second World War in Europe”

On May 8, 2020, the Security Council high-level Arria Formula virtual meeting on the theme “75 Years from the End of the Second World War in Europe” was held. There are more than 60 countries representatives, including the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN in New York M. Moldoisaeva, attended this virtual meeting.

In her speech, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic emphasized that this year the international community mark the seventy-fifth anniversary of the end of the Second World War – the greatest tragedy of the twentieth century for the peoples of the world. The peoples of the Soviet Union including Kyrgyzstan sacrificed their lives to save the future of humankind and world civilization and our duty is to carefully preserve and pass on to descendants the truth about the most terrible war in the history of the mankind.

In this regard, the international community needs to unite efforts to preserve and firmly defend the historical truth, as well as to counteract attempts to revive the ideology of Nazism. 

M. Moldoisaeva expressed support for the important role of the United Nations - the only universal international organization for the maintenance of international peace and security and the promotion of equal dialogue among Member States. She underlined that during this challenging for international community time the Kyrgyz Republic fully supports a vital role of the UN for solving problems concerning maintaining peace and security, cooperating in solving development problems, reducing poverty, promoting respect for human rights, environment protection, fighting diseases and in the COVID-19 global pandemia.

M. Moldoisaeva also noted that the peaceful resolution of international conflicts, in compliance with international law and in accordance with the goals and principles of the United Nations, is the only way to protect present and future generations from the scourge of new wars.
