On February 14, 2020 the investment and trade mission of the KR in Japan was took place in Tokyo with the assistance of the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic (IPPA KR), the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and the Newly Independent States (ROTOBO) and the Department of Economic Diplomacy of the MFA of KR together with Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Japan.

The event was attended by more than 70 representatives of government authorities and private companies from the Japanese side, and more than 10 representatives of companies and public organizations from the Kyrgyz side.

During the event, for the interested public and business community of Japan was:

• By the head of IPPA KG was presented information about investment climate and potential of the KR;

 

• By the Information and Consulting Center under the State Migration Service of the KR was presented information about procedures and current legislation for employment of Kyrgyz citizens abroad;

 

• The representatives of Kyrgyz companies and business associations presented a thematic/sectoral presentations and proposals on establishing bilateral cooperation with the Japanese business communities.

 

On the second half of the event, participants were given a separate time for business-matching and establishing direct contacts, during which specific projects and areas of cooperation of mutual interest were discussed.

 

During the event achieved the following outcomes and agreements:

• signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the field of labour migration between the ICC under the State Migration Service of the KR and the Japanese company "Relationship Inc";

• the issues of cooperation in the field of IT-technologies, electronic Commerce, agriculture, and human resources were identified as the prospective trends of the Japanese-Kyrgyz cooperation;

• agreement between the Department of economic diplomacy MFA of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Embassy of Kyrgyz Republic in Japan on:

a) organization of similar mission of Japanese business community to the Kyrgyz Republic by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism;

b) organization by the Association "ROTOBO" of sectoral trade missions / visits of Japanese companies working in the field of IT sector and the recruitment of personnel in Kyrgyzstan in March – April 2020;

• a number of participants of the forum from the Japanese side expressed the desire to visit Kyrgyzstan in the near future to continue consultations on potential areas of cooperation with the KR.

At the end of the event, the Parties emphasized the importance of conducting such missions with a focus on developing specific industrial/sectoral areas and agreed to continue the practice of holding such events in Kyrgyzstan and Japan.
