The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan met with the President of the Korea Institute of Advanced Technology (KIAT) and discussed further cooperation in priority areas

On April 11, 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea Aida Ismailova met with the President of the Korean Institute of Advanced Technology (KIAT) Yeong Cheol Seok.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the project of Korean-Kyrgyz technological consultations and trainings in the textile industry. Also discussed promising projects in the light industry, in particular, the creation of a Kyrgyz-Korean center for cooperation on digital technologies for textile production in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the implementation of joint projects on water management, food processing, construction of a textile technopark, energy and renewable energy sources.

In connection with the global issue of climate change, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Ismailova proposed to focus more attention on attracting green advanced technologies to Kyrgyzstan.

In response, KIAT’s President Yeong Cheol Seok noted that, as part of the decision of the Government of South Korea, the inclusion of Kyrgyzstan in the list of partner countries for receiving grant assistance through ODA for the next 5 years, they intend to pay attention to the transfer of Korean experience, taking into account advanced technologies for Kyrgyzstan. In addition, the President of KIAT expressed the interest of the Korean side in the extraction of mineral resources, the construction of hydroelectric power plants, as well as in the comprehensive support of industrial technologies.
