Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, parliament deputy Kanybek Imanaliev attended the Meeting of Honorary Consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic in foreign countries.

On March 15, 2019, the 5th Meeting of Honorary Consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic in Foreign States was held in Bishkek with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, Deputy of the Kyrgyz Parliament Kanybek Imanaliev.

In his speech, Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov noted the significant contribution of the Honorary Consuls to strengthening bilateral relations with foreign states. The importance of the activities of the Honorary Consuls to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad was emphasized. The Minister drew attention to the approved new Concept of the country's foreign policy, where national interests and priorities are defined.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanybek Imanaliev expressed gratitude to the Honorary Consuls for their assistance to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad and noted that the Committee supports the activities of Honorary Consuls.

The event included three panel sessions to assist in the revitalization of "economic diplomacy", including attracting foreign investment, expanding export markets, and promoting tourism.

During the meeting, Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov presented certificates of honor, letters of appreciation and a consular patent to the Honorary Consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the results of the Meeting, Recommendations were developed for implementation by Honorary Consuls in the countries of accreditation for the period until the end of 2019. March 16 of this year. Thematic visits of Honorary Consuls to promising investment and tourist sites of Kyrgyzstan are planned.

The honorary consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, the USA, Germany, Finland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Thailand took part in this event.

For reference: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic holds meetings of the Honorary Consuls once every two years. Their goal is to discuss the results of the work carried out and the definition of tasks for the next period.
