On June 5, 2020 a virtual panel discussion was held with the US-Kyrgyz Business Council in Washington, DC on the development of mutually beneficial cooperation and doing business in the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan with the involvement of American companies within conditions of overcoming the consequences of COVID-19, where the Kyrgyz side acted as a panelist along with the heads of diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
The event was attended by over 300 participants, including representatives from the US Department of State, the US Department of Commerce, the United States Agency for International Development, the United States Trade Representative, major American companies, various sectors of economy, international organizations and expert communities in the USA.
There was a thorough exchange of views in the framework of the event on taken measures and needs to mitigate the negative impact of the pandemic, as well as on the opportunities and prospects for doing business by American companies in the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan in the trade, economic, tourism, educational and cultural spheres.
In addition, the Embassy highlighted in detail our investment, export, tourist opportunities and advantages, the efforts undertaken by the country's leadership to ensure the safe conduct of business, the safe stay of foreign investors in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the ongoing reforms in the country to eliminate corruption risks through the implementation of digitalization projects.
In conclusion, the meeting participants expressed interest and readiness in continuing the dialogue and further developing mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
