US congressmen have agreed to meet with citizens of Kyrgyzstan residing and working in Chicago

On October 18, 2023, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the USA and Canada, Baktybek Amanbaev, held separate meetings with congressmen elected from the state of Illinois, Raja Krishnamoorthy and Mike Quigley. During the meetings, issues related to the development of bilateral relations and ways to enhance them were discussed, and there was an exchange of opinions on the prospects of strengthening interparliamentary cooperation.

Ambassador Baktybek Amanbaev informed the US congressmen about the resource potential and priority areas of Kyrgyzstan's economy, as well as the Central Asian region.

Baktybek Amanbaev, emphasizing that thousands of Kyrgyzstan citizens reside and work in the state of Illinois, some of whom are full-fledged voters who have received US citizenship, proposed organizing a meeting with them in the near future to get acquainted with their activities and collaborate in the future.

Baktybek Amanbaev also proposed improving Kyrgyz-American interparliamentary relations and invited the congressmen to visit Kyrgyzstan.

US congressmen R.Krishnamoorthy and M.Quigley, on their part, expressed support for strengthening interparliamentary cooperation and readiness to visit Kyrgyzstan upon receiving an official invitation from the country's parliament. The American congressmen also agreed with Ambassador Baktybek Amanbaev's proposal to organize a meeting in the near future between Kyrgyz citizens residing in the state of Illinois and congressmen at the Kyrgyz Community Center in Chicago and instructed their assistants to work in this direction.
