On March 11, 2020, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the USA and Canada B.Otunbaev held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada A.Rota where, in addition to bilateral cooperation issues, special attention was paid to strengthening and development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Canada.

The Canadian Parliament Speaker highlighted the achievements of the Kyrgyz Republic in strengthening parliamentarism and expressed readiness to further strengthen the inter-parliamentary cooperation both on bilateral basis and within international organizations.

B. Otunbaev expressed his gratitude to the Canadian side for the readiness to exchange experience and thanked for the active participation of Canadian representatives in the elections in Kyrgyzstan, as part of the ODIHR/OSCE international observers, and requested assistance in funding the UNDP project on elections in the Kyrgyz Republic (KESP III).
