On February 19, 2024 in Paris, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to France Sadyk Sher-Niyaz met with the Director of the Continental Europe Department of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Brice Roquefel. 

During the meeting Ambassador S. Sher-Niyaz informed about important domestic political transformations in the Kyrgyz Republic, and in a friendly and constructive atmosphere the parties discussed a wide range of issues of Kyrgyz French bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to discussing the prospects for further development of political, trade, economic, investment and cultural interaction between the two countries. Mutual willingness to expand political dialogue by organizing high-level and top-level visits this year was confirmed.

Ambassador Sher-Niyaz emphasized the need to develop economic, trade and investment relations by concluding agreements on avoidance of double taxation and protection of investments, as well as organizing the next Kyrgyz French business forum in Bishkek. 

Considering the efforts of France to improve the climate and ecology of the world, the Ambassador proposed to consider the issue of writing off foreign debt in exchange for projects to preserve ecology and green economy.

The parties positively assessed the participation of the French company "EDF", "Airbus" and "Sanofi" in the implementation of economic projects in Kyrgyzstan. 

Much attention was paid to the issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The Director noted with satisfaction the enrolment of 122 students from Kyrgyzstan in French universities in 2023. At the same time, the Ambassador additionally proposed to intensify cooperation in improving the qualifications of Kyrgyz museum staff and French language teachers in France.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their willingness to make joint efforts to further expand cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and France.
