On 22nd of June, 2021, as part of the continuation of work to perpetuate the memory of the Kyrgyz soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War on the territory of Ukraine, the Embassy took part in an event organized in the village of Dashukovka, Cherkasy region, where it honored the memory of Umetbek Asylbekov.
Lieutenant U.Asylbekov died on 21st of February, 1944 in battle and was buried in a mass grave in the village of Dashukovka, Cherkasy region.
At the request of close relatives of the Kyrgyz warrior U.Asylbekov, the leadership of the village of Dashukovka provided assistance in putting the name of U.Asylbekov on the mass grave where he was buried.
During the event, the Embassy noted the contribution of Kyrgyz soldiers to the Victory over fascism and provided information on the work to perpetuate the memory of those killed during the war on the territory of Ukraine.
On behalf of the Ambassador Zh. Sharipov, gratitude was expressed to the local authorities for their assistance in perpetuating the memory of the Kyrgyz warrior U.Asylbekov and transferred to the library of the village of Dashukovka the epic "Manas", Kyrgyz folk tales, works of Ch. Aitmatov, translated into Ukrainian and published at the initiative of the Embassy.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the district administration, the Head of the Dashukovka village council A.Belous, villagers, relatives of U.Asylbekov, who arrived from the Kyrgyz Republic.
