On December 7 this year, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to Ukraine held a scientific and practical conference dedicated to the work of the Kyrgyz writer and diplomat Chingiz Aitmatov in the building of The National Library of Ukraine for Children.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, representatives of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, heads of the Union of Writers and the Union of Artists, representatives of universities and the creative intelligence of Kyiv, as well as representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora were invited to the event.

During the event, a presentation of a newly published collection with ten works by Ch.Aitmatov in Ukrainian took place (among the speakers was the translator of many of the writer’s works - professor Ph.D. M.Vaskiv).

A popular science film dedicated to the life and work of the writer was shown as part of the conference. In addition, a photo exhibition and art gallery based on the works of Ch.Aitmatov, as well as an exhibition-corner of exhibits of Kyrgyz folk craftsmen were organized for guests on the library premises.

The event received a positive response among the guests of the evening. The speakers noted the importance of the writer-humanist Ch.Aitmatov in the education of the younger generation.
