On 29-30 April 2021, the telephone conversations between the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE, Ambassador Bakyt Dzhusupov and the Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OSCE Ms.Ulrika Funered were held in Vienna.

During the conversations, the Permanent Representative B. Dzhusupov informed the Chairpersonship about the current situation on the border of the Kyrgyz Republic with the Republic of Tajikistan. It was noted that on the instructions from the Heads of States of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, a working meeting of representatives of state bodies of two countries was held, during which the Parties came to a mutual agreement on the cessation of hostilities in the border areas, the withdrawal of troops and military equipment to the places of their permanent deployment, the creation of a joint working group.

In her turn, the Permanent Representative of Sweden Ms. U.Funered welcomed the initiated negotiation process and the cessation of hostilities, expressed hope that the two neighboring countries would be able to resolve the situation as soon as possible and avoid further escalation. The Swedish OSCE Chairpersonship stands ready to provide support.
