The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar

On July 29, 2022, as part of the participation in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, during which topical issues of Kyrgyz-Indian cooperation in the political, trade and economic, military-technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of projects under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of India on grant assistance in order to implement quick-impact projects aimed at social development, as well as holding meetings of the Kyrgyz-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific technical cooperation (IGC).

Taking into account that the IGC is one of the main tools for promoting trade and economic cooperation, the parties noted the importance of its annual holding and the mandatory implementation of the agreements reached at the outcome of the meetings.

The parties also stressed the importance of organizing mutual visits at high and highest levels, as well as cultural and humanitarian events.

Minister Kulubaev noted that at present the Kyrgyz side is studying the possibility of accepting Indian students who were forced to return to their homeland due to the situation in Ukraine.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the course towards strengthening and developing Kyrgyz-Indian relations in all areas covering the interests of the two countries, including mutual support in international organizations.
