On June 13, 2022, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the State of Kuwait, Azamat Karagulov, visited the new Rector of the Kuwait University, Dr. Yousef Muhammad Al-Rumi, to discuss the prospects for developing cooperation with the leading national higher educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan.

 

Ambassador A. Karagulov congratulated Dr. Yousef Al-Rumi on his appointment as rector of the main higher educational institution of the State of Kuwait and noted the previously outlined plans of the parties to develop cooperation, which were disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic in the world. He confirmed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in the development of scientific, academic and student exchange, noting the Kyrgyz National University as the oldest and leading university in the country, as well as the readiness to assist in organizing mutual visits and signing a relevant memorandum.

 

In turn, Dr. Yu. Al-Rumi welcomed the intentions of the Kyrgyz side to expand cooperation with Kuwait in the scientific and educational field, noting the wide geography of international relations of the University and the positive experience of cooperation with leading universities in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Along with the history of creation and activities of the Kuwait University, which is recognized as one of the largest universities in the Gulf countries and the Arab world, the Rector spoke about the current stages of its expansion and modernization.

 

In addition, Ambassador A. Karagulov spoke about the high interest of Kyrgyz youth in the study of Arabic culture and language, and rector Yu. Al-Rumi assured of his readiness to consider proposals to increase the quota for teaching Kyrgyz students at various faculties.
