On May 12, 2022, at the initiative of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Italy, negotiations were held between the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration Chingiz Aidarbekov  and the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Piero Fassino via videoconference.
The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including the further strengthening of ties in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. An exchange of views took place on the issues of intensifying inter-parliamentary contacts, establishing permanent communication and cooperation between the Committees, Friendship Groups, organizing mutual visits dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Ch. Aidarbekov noted that over a 30-year period, a strong foundation for Kyrgyz-Italian cooperation has been laid between the countries, based on mutual trust, respect and mutual support. “Italy is an important partner and we attach particular importance to the development of our relations in all areas, including the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation,” the Chairman said, dwelling in detail on the positive developments of the Kyrgyz-Italian partnership, including the opening of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Italy in August 2020.
“The legislative power in the Kyrgyz Republic is the key to ensuring the stability and balance of the state system based on democratic values, legality and justice. We are following the path of strengthening the foundations of a free society and progressive development,” Deputy Ch. Aidarbekov emphasized.
Concerning the issue of building up trade and economic cooperation, the parliamentarians outlined the need to create joint ventures and attract Italian investors to the market of the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the same time, Piero Fassino, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, emphasized the high level of Kyrgyz-Italian cooperation and expressed interest in further deepening constructive bilateral cooperation in all areas. He also supported the initiatives of the Kyrgyz side aimed at enhancing relations, including in the parliamentary dimension.
