The 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Bishkek

“Our goal is to increase the level of trade between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey up to $ 1 billion”. It was stated by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Ulukbek Maripov during the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which took place in Bishkek.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that this year the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states celebrated 30 years.

“For 30 years, friendly relations between the Kyrgyz and Turkish peoples have reached the level of strategic partnership. Our bilateral cooperation is developing in almost all areas - education, healthcare, trade, security, agriculture, migration, mining, and tourism. I believe that governments should make every effort to further strengthen friendly relations and strategic partnership between our countries” he said, adding that the Kyrgyz-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation serves as an effective platform for the development of bilateral relations.

H.E. Mr. Ulukbek Maripov noted that the recent official visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Turkey gave a new impetus to friendly relations between the two countries.

According to the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, the domestic economy has good investment potential in hydropower, communications, agriculture, textile, mining, tourism, and education.

H.E. Mr. Ulukbek Maripov noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is ready to create all conditions and provide appropriate guarantees for the activity of foreign investors.

In conclusion, H.E. Mr. Ulukbek Maripov emphasized that during the negotiations with the Vice-President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Mr. Fuat Oktay, an exchange of views took place on important areas of cooperation, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was successful.

Vice President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Mr. Fuat Oktay, in turn, noted the importance of bringing the strategic cooperation of the two countries to a new level. He stressed the readiness to further develop cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
