The Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union held their seventeenth Cooperation Committee online-meeting on March 25, 2021. The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic was led by Mr. Azizbek Madmarov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the delegation of the European Union was headed by the Head of the European External Action Service.

In a confidential atmosphere, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union since the previous meeting of the Committee in 2019 and in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as upcoming events at the bilateral and multilateral levels. The two sides especially underlined the importance of organizing and holding the First EU-CA Economic Forum in Bishkek in 2021.

The Cooperation Committee also discussed the rule of law, democratic processes, civil freedom, human rights, reforms in the public sector of the Kyrgyz Republic, ecology and environmental protection, economic reforms, the implementation of judicial reform, elections to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2021, the fight against corruption, the results of the meeting of Eighteenth Subcommittee on Trade and Investment, meetings of the Third Subcommittee on Development and Cooperation of the Kyrgyz Republic-European Union and other issues.

The two sides agreed to continue building up the entire range of bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union, including within the framework of the EU project and program activities in the Kyrgyz Republic.
