On the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Moldogaziev in the Central Asia – European Union High-Level Political and Security Dialogue

On June 5, 2024, the 11th meeting of the Central Asia – European Union High-Level Political and Security Dialogue took place in Brussels, with the participation of deputy foreign ministers from Central Asian countries and the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service. The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Aibek Moldogaziev.

During the dialogue, participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to global and regional security, with special attention given to the situations in the Middle East, Ukraine, and Afghanistan.

In discussing the implementation of the Joint Roadmap for deepening ties between Central Asia and the European Union, adopted at the ministerial level in Luxembourg in 2023, the parties emphasized the importance of taking further measures for its effective implementation. In this regard, the Kyrgyz side highlighted the particular importance of further enhancing cooperation in trade, economic, and investment spheres.

The Head of the Kyrgyz delegation noted the effectiveness of the European Union's project and program activities, including key regional programs such as BOMCA/CADAP and LEICA. Special attention was given to environmental and energy security issues. In this context, he drew the attention of his European colleagues to the country's significant investment potential in the hydropower sector.

As part of the Dialogue program, A. Moldogaziev also participated in an additional event in the CA-EU format, where the parties discussed issues of combating terrorism, extremism, radicalism, and drug trafficking, as well as shared views on the outcomes of the recent EU-Central Asia Security Conference.
