Agreed to hold a joint business forum in order to improve economic cooperation

On May 1, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada Bakyt Amanbaev met with Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Canada Martha Harrison and her team. During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to improve economic cooperation between Canada and Kyrgyzstan. Firstly, Bakyt Amanbaev gave information about the Central Asian region, and then described in detail the resource potential and economic priorities of Kyrgyzstan. He also presented his proposals on economic projects that would be beneficial for both sides. The Canadian side provided information on its activities and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Central Asia, including Kyrgyzstan.

Ambassador Amanbaev proposed to hold a joint business forum in the future in order to implement the discussed areas. The Canadian side supported this proposal and promised to work together in this direction in the future.

In addition, Bakyt Amanbaev met with Neil Krell, Regional Director of the Canadian Export Development Corporation. Issues of improving bilateral cooperation in the future were discussed at the meeting, and a joint work plan for the future was agreed upon.
