On October 16, 2020, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada B.Otunbaev had a conversation with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs J.Henick. During the conversation, the U.S. side was informed about the events taking place in the Kyrgyz Republic and noted the importance of U.S. support for reforms.

Deputy Assistant Secretary J.Henick. noted that the United States is closely monitoring the situation in the Kyrgyz Republic. J.Henick said that the United States has supported and will continue to support the Kyrgyz Republic in the continuation of democratic reforms.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada B.Otunbaev expressed his gratitude to the American side for the provided assistance in the fight against coronavirus epidemic and noted the importance of continuing joint work in this direction.

In a separate order, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada B.Otunbaev noted the need to remove visa restrictions. It was noted that the ministries and agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic have done a huge amount of work to meet the conditions set by the American side, including the introduction of biometric passports, samples of which were developed by the State Registration Service of the Kyrgyz Republic in mid-October 2020.

Deputy Assistant Secretary J.Henick noted that the decision to remove visa restrictions is made by the US Presidential Administration. The U.S. State Department sent information about the efforts of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to the White House and is also awaiting a decision on this matter.
