On May 7, 2021,  Nuran Niyazaliev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic held an online meeting with Mr. Manlio Di Stefano Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic.

N. Niyazaliev noted with satisfaction the tendency to intensify bilateral ties in recent years and to strengthen political contacts. In this regard, the parties discussed issues of organizing high-level visits, improving the legal framework in the field of investment, taxation, education, culture, as well as establishing cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries. Noting the importance of strengthening and diversifying trade and economic ties, N. Niyazaliev invited the Italian delegation to take part in the First EU-CA Economic Forum, which will be held in October 2021 in Bishkek.

Deputy Minister Di Stefano, in turn, welcomed the opening of the diplomatic mission of Kyrgyzstan in Italy and expressed interest in deepening bilateral contacts. He informed that from September 2021 the issuance of visas to the Italian Republic will begin through the Hungarian Embassy in Bishkek.

The parties mutually stressed the importance of deepening Kyrgyz-Italian cooperation.

On the issue of recent events on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, the Italian side was presented the approaches of the Kyrgyz side to this incident. It was also emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is committed to balanced political and diplomatic methods of resolving conflict issues. Deputy Minister Di Stefano expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and loved ones of the injured as a result of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border and stressed the readiness of the Italian side to provide support in the post-conflict period.
