An event was held in İznik in memory of the Kyrgyz soldiers who fell in the battles for the capture of the city in the 11th century

On May 15, 2022, in Iznik, Turkey, an event annually organizing by members of the Kyrgyz diaspora in Istanbul was held in memory of the Kyrgyz soldiers who fell in the battles for the capture of the city in the 11th century.

The event was attended by Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Consul General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Istanbul Lira Sydykova, Head of Iznik Kaymakam Recei Karal, Vice Mayor of Iznik Halil Çakır, as well as more than 300 citizens of Kyrgyzstan living and studying in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Antalya, and other regions of Turkey.

In the welcoming speech, Ambassador Omuraliev expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the event and noted the importance of holding such meetings of compatriots to promote the country, preserve historical memory, strengthen national cohesion and unity in the host country, including friendship between nations.

In addition, Ambassador informed about the work carried out by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to protect the rights of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic. As an example, Social Security Agreement between the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey, according to which citizens of the two countries, who work on a legal basis and pay insurance premiums, have the opportunity to receive pensions and benefits both in the territory of Kyrgyzstan and in Turkey, extension of the validity of the foreign passport of children from 3 to 5 years, and others.

As part of the event, a prayer was said in memory of the Kyrgyz warriors, national sports games were held and a picnic was organized with Kyrgyz cuisine.
