On January 12, 2023, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Türkiye Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Secretary General of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities Fahri Solak.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for further development and strengthening of interregional sister city relations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Türkiye.

The head of the Kyrgyz diplomatic mission drew attention to the importance of implementing joint social projects within the partnership of sister cities, in particular the construction of schools, kindergartens and hospitals.

For reference: Union of Turkish World Municipalities was established on November 12, 2003, with the aim of carrying out activities with the cities of Turkic-speaking countries and regions that have common geographical, historical and cultural values. The decision on the establishment the union was made in 2000 at the Summit of Turkic-speaking countries in Azerbaijan. The Union implements programs and projects to develop cooperation between 1,200 member municipalities from 30 countries.
