On July 10, 2019, there was the meetıng of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliev with Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev and M.Shentop emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey and noticed upcoming visit of Toraga of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic D.Dzhumabekov to Turkey will give new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.

The parties also discussed the planned visits of the Turkish delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey to Kyrgyzstan and the delegation of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic to Turkey.

Along with inter-parliamentary cooperation, the Parties discussed issues of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, in particular, the upcoming holding of the 9th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in Ankara on July 17-18, 2019.

Regarding the information provided by Ambassador K. Omuraliev about the “Kyrgyzlar Turbesi” - Memorial to the Kyrgyz soldiers in Iznik M. Shentop expressed his intention to visit the “Kyrgyzlar Turbesi” in August of this year. and discuss with the leadership of Iznik, the question of its promotion.

Reference: Iznik (the ancient name - Nikaia) is located 120 km south of Istanbul. There is a Memorial, known to the locals as the “Kyrgyzlar Turbesi” or Memorial to the Kyrgyz soldiers who fell in battles for the capture of Iznik in the 13th century. In the Memorial, Kyrgyz soldiers found their last refuge, who fought shoulder to shoulder with the Anatolian Turks. They were the first to break into impregnable fortifications. In honor of this, during the rule of Sultan Orhan Ghazi, there was built Kumboz at the end of the 13th century.
