On October 8, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Ukraine Zhusupbek Sharipov received at the Embassy representatives of the analytical center «Polis Asia» Elmira Nogoibaeva and Gulzat Alagoz kyzy, who, within the framework of the «Esimde» project, arrived in Ukraine to study archival data on the Kyrgyz, dispossessed and expelled from the territory of Kyrgyzstan to Ukraine in the 30s of the XX century.

Ambassador Zh. Sharipov said that since 2018, the Embassy has been working on an ongoing basis with archival data and searches for Kyrgyz citizens who were exiled to Ukraine in the 30s. The materials received from the archives of Ukraine were sent to the Kyrgyz Republic.

In turn, E.Nogoibaeva and G.Alagoz kyzy expressed gratitude to the Embassy for the assistance in organizing meetings with local authorities, residents who witnessed the events of the 30s in the Ukrainian villages of Vinogradovo and Krestovka in the Kherson region, where the Kyrgyz lived in the 30s, also for help in gaining access to the archives of the Security Service of Ukraine in the years. Kherson and Kiev.

The parties noted their mutual interest to continue work in this direction to restore the memory of the Kyrgyz, who were exiled in the 30s from the territory of Kyrgyzstan to Ukraine.

The «Esimde» project explores the history and memory of the 20th century in Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries. Through archival work and communication with witnesses, the organization restores the historical truth about mass repressions and the totalitarian past.
