On January 23 Ambassador Tolendy Makeyev met with Gerhard Sailler, the Director General of the Department of the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, Turkiye, Central Asia and the Arctic of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria.

During the meeting, the parties agreed that they would work together to intensify bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Austria on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

In order to further develop the political dialogue this year, measures will be taken to organize mutual visits at the highest and high levels, as well as in the direction of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Discussing the economic aspects of cooperation, the parties agreed on the need to fully implement the final agreements of the 8th meeting of the Joint Kyrgyz-Austrian Commission for Economic Cooperation held in 2022, and take concrete steps for further mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment cooperation.

The parties also considered the prospects for the implementation of the state program "El Umutu" in order to train national personnel of the Kyrgyz Republic in prestigious Austrian universities.

The Ambassador emphasized his satisfaction with the level of practical cooperation in a multilateral format and expressed gratitude to Austria for supporting and co-sponsoring the UN Resolution on Sustainable Mountain Development initiated by Kyrgyzstan.
