On March 3, 2023, the official opening of the exhibition " Expedition of the Snow Leopard " of the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU) took place in the building of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Germany, which was attended by the leadership of NABU, deputies and representatives of the Bundestag, the German Foreign Ministry, other interested ministries, departments and organizations in Germany.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Germany Mr. Omurbek Tekebaev emphasized that NABU has been making an invaluable contribution to the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan all these years, which fully reflects the precepts of our ancestors, reflected in the preamble to the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic - to live in harmony with nature. He noted the special role of NABU in the conservation and protection of the snow leopard population, which is one of the symbols of the Kyrgyz people.

NABU Director for International Cooperation Mr. Thomas Tennhardt noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is one of the key snow leopard habitats in Central Asia and a reliable partner of NABU in the framework of many years of successful cooperation in the conservation of rare species of wild animals and biodiversity. He also announced the plans of NABU to implement new projects in Kyrgyzstan, including the establishing of the second anti-poaching special group "BARS-2" in Osh city in the near future.

With the support of NABU, Kyrgyzstan plans to hold the Year of Education for Sustainable Development in 2023, which will be a logical continuation of the “Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience”, announced in 2022.

The NABU exhibition “Expedition of the Snow Leopard” is aimed at attracting public attention to the habitat and living conditions of this rarest animal species and will last at the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Germany for two months, during which it will be visited by representatives of interested organizations and educational institutions in Berlin.

This exhibition will also draw the attention of the German public to the tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan and will contribute to improving the country's image in the international arena.
