On October 11, 2023, the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Finland with residence in Berlin Mr. Omurbek Tekebaev held meetings with the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland Mr. Jussi Kristian Halla-aho and the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Atte Kaleva.

At the meeting, the emphasis was placed on intensifying bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Finland. The parties discussed issues of developing cooperation with the European Union and Finland in general, expressing a common interest in deepening dialogue and cooperation on a wide range of issues.

Particular attention was paid to the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The parties expressed a common interest in creating joint Kyrgyz-Finnish ventures and discussed the prospects for attracting Finnish investments into the economy of Kyrgyzstan, in particular in water and energy projects and projects in the field of renewable energy sources.

The parties expressed their readiness to strengthen coordination at the inter-parliamentary level for more effective interaction and cooperation between countries. Ambassador Mr. Omurbek Tekebaev emphasized that the development of inter-parliamentary relations is an important element in strengthening the long-term partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Finland, as well as a way to support and strengthen democratic institutions in both countries.

There was also an exchange of views on a wide range of issues, including current issues on the regional and international agenda.
