On January 12, 2024, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany Omurbek Tekebaev with the Managing Director of the national agency for the promotion and distribution of German films abroad “German Films” Simone Baumann.

During the meeting, issues of developing cooperation in the field of cinematography between Kyrgyzstan and Germany were discussed. Ambassador O.Tekebaev proposed cooperation with “German Films” in the field of translation of German films into the Kyrgyz language for screening in Kyrgyzstan in the form of subtitles and dubbing, and asked representatives of German Films to assist in the wide participation of Kyrgyz films in international film festivals in Germany.

S.Baumann expressed “German Films’” interest in establishing cooperation with representatives from Kyrgyzstan in the field of cinematography, the participation of German films in international film festivals in Kyrgyzstan, as well as its readiness to assist Kyrgyz filmmakers in establishing contacts with the organizers of international film festivals in Germany.

The parties agreed to continue work on all issues of interaction in the field of cinematography between the above-mentioned German agency and Kyrgyzstan.
