On December 12, 2020, the opening ceremony of the 12th annual charity sale “Love knows no borders”, which is held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the initiative of Qian Wei, the wife of a Member of the State Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, was held in Beijing in an online format.

The charity sale will be open during the week via the “Taobao” electronic trading platform. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan and other diplomatic missions presented their souvenirs and other products for online sale free of charge. The proceeds will be used to support children in two counties of Jinping and Malipo in Yunnan province.

The event was attended by 130 representatives of embassies, international organizations accredited in Beijing, as well as major Chinese companies and financial institutions. Welcoming speeches were made by a Member of the State Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi and his wife Qian Wei.

Wang Yi noted that through joint efforts, the sale has become an important platform for showing kindness to all segments of society in China and abroad, a window for the Chinese people to understand the traditions, history, and culture of various countries, and a bridge to strengthen friendship between the Chinese people and the peoples of all countries. The sale “Love knows no borders” also blends into the national program to combat poverty in China. The Minister expressed hope that diplomatic missions and concerned people in China will continue to actively participate in this event and make new contributions.

Qian Wei underlined that the charity sale has already been held for 11 years and this year should not be postponed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic. This time, the sale is held for the first time in a “cloud” application. Qian Wei expressed hope that the charity sale will be able to unite more love and care, as well as contribute to the fight against poverty in China.

During the event, the embassies staged performance, Kyrgyz side demonstrated the melody of Atay Ogonbayev “Ar tamak, kok tamak” on komuz performed by the Kyrgyz artist, winner of international awards Duishonbek uulu Zakirbek.
