On October 11, 2022 in New York, elections to the UN Human Rights Council for 2023-2025 were held. As a result of the election, the Kyrgyz Republic won the support of 126 member states of the UN and was elected to the UN Human Rights Council for 2023-2025.
It should be noted that the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov took part in the 77th session of the UN General Assembly held in New York in September this year and called on the UN member states to support Kyrgyzstan in the upcoming elections. This instruction of the head of state was successfully implemented by the diplomatic missions of the Kyrgyz Republic in the United States.
Six countries - the Kyrgyz Republic, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Maldives and the Republic of Korea - claimed four seats on the UN Human Rights Council. The countries running competed in different ways to win the elections and campaigned among UN member states.

The election of the Kyrgyz Republic to such a world-renowned organization can be considered as a proof of the success of our country in the field of human rights and support of democracy during the years of independence and the correctness of the foreign policy of the government led by President Sadyr Japarov from the first day.

The Human Rights Council consists of 47 states, elected directly and by secret ballot in the General Assembly. This time five regional groups nominated 17 candidates. Six countries, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Maldives and the Republic of Korea competed for four seats from Asia and the Pacific.
